Is surgery right for me?
Although the risks of surgery are hugely outweighed by the long-term benefits of getting your weight under control through surgical means, not everyone can have it! Although it is rare for overweight patients requesting surgery to be unsuitable candidates, there are still some hurdles to jump, in terms of ensuring weight loss surgery is absolutely safe and right for you?
Please note that in order to qualify for any weight loss surgery program at SurgicalWeightLoss.co.uk all of the following selection criteria must apply to you...
- You must have a significant history of diet failures
- You must have a genuine desire to overcome your obesity problems and demonstrate full commitment to finally getting your weight under control
- You must fully understand both the benefits and the risks of weight loss surgery
- You must have a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 35 to 39 with other obesity related health problems
- Or you must have a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 40 or above. The calculator below will help you determine what your own body mass index is.
It will only be possible to determine whether a patient is absolutely right for weight loss surgery after a thorough consultation assessment provided by the Consultant Surgeon who will actually perform the surgery.
Obesity surgery is a life-altering procedure and it is imperative that patients are fully committed to making the lifestyle changes needed for a successful procedure.
If you feel you meet the basic criteria for weight loss surgery we would be delighted to hear from you, so that we can begin to establish your suitability for a particular weight loss procedure.
